More Great Cards From All Over

It's time for another great selection of cards with great stamps from an assortment of great places. That's a lot of great. So, let's start with Jean Pierre's card from Saint Pierre & Miquelon. A self governing territorial overseas collectivity of France, St. Pierre is situated in the northwest Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The islands are 3,819 km from France , but just 25 km from Canada. Jean Pierre's card gives a look at Saint Pierre in Winter.

As is almost always the case with cards from St. Pierre, the stamps are outstanding. The left stamp, with the Antique Car was issued in 2014. The Bird stamp on the right was issued this year. The smaller one  from 2013 is one of a set of French definitives overprinted SPM for use in St. Pierre and Miquelon. Of note are the always clear, easy to read cancellations.

I have a liking for St. Pierre stamps , always have. Along with French Polynesia and French Southern Antarctic Territory they are my favourites. Anyone wanting a new area of collecting , give these 3 a try, you won't be disappointed.

Today's second card is a new addition to my Airline / Aircraft Collection. It's N587NW, a Northwest Airlines B757-300 aircraft. Northwest was a major U.S. airline founded in 1926 and later absorbed into Delta Air Lines in 2008.

This is another card from Mike and Ashley , who hails from West Chester, PA. This one arrived with a number of stamps, so here they are.
From left to right  : a 2007 Navajo Jewelry stamp, a 2011 George Washington and 2 new stamps issued April 10th  of this year. They are part of a set of 4 called Gifts of Friendship.

Here's a card that travelled a long way to get here. First it travelled from Romania to South Africa, then back to Romania and finally on to Canada and me. Must have used an Eveready battery instead of a stamp.
The card arrived from Timisoara, one of the largest Romanian cities, with 320,000 inhabitants. It is the main social, economic and cultural centres in western Romania.

Bruce's card arrived with 1 of the 6 stamps in the 2013 set of Flowers and Clocks.

Did someone say Luxury ? Yes, that's what we have next  in The Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.  Abu Dhabi's most enchanting landmark.
A luxury hotel consisting of 394 rooms and suites. Based on its luxury, it describes itself as going beyond 5 star, being a palace instead of just a hotel. Some have even described it as a seven star facility, even though 5 is tops.

Fati used a 2013 stamp commemorating the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. Sadly , it escaped a postmark or cancellation.

Another card from Jobbo is next. Jobbo sends great cards with really great stamps . My Thailand stamp collection is certainly increasing. Today's card shows the Royal Barge and the Chanting Ceremony in Bangkok.

Here's 2 more Thailand stamps to add to my growing collection. On the left is 1 of 4 in a 1998 set called Art With Scissors. Then on the right, the long stamp showing the Royal Barge. It was issued in 1996 to mark the Golden Jubilee of King Bjumibol Adulyadej.

Next we have Greetings from The United Nations, New York . The card shows the General Assembly Building of the United Nations with the flags of the member countries.

David, while on his recent trip to New York sent this card along. He used 2 stamps  from the 2015 set of 6 World Heritage Series. Shown here are Borobudur Temple in Indonesia and Luang Prabang in Laos.

A nice card from Belgium showing the monument The Lion's Mound in Waterloo is next. The Battle of Waterloo took place on June 18th, 1815, two hundred years ago.  The card commemorates that as do the stamps attached.

Johan used 2 stamp from a recent 5 stamp souvenir sheet. The 2 here celebrate Prussian General Gebhard von Blucher and William, Prince of Orange, Commander of the Anglo-Allied Corps.

Here now is a card from Ana in Macedonia. It shows the Osogovo Monastery with the Church of St. Joachim of Osogovo to the right and the Church of the Holy Mother of God to the left. Founded in the 12th century, the monastery is located in woods near the northeastern town of Kriva Palanka, Republic of Macedonia., just 10 km from the Bulgarian border.

Ana used a stamp from a set of 4 Icons issued in 1999.

Another card and another church. This one is from Italy and shows The Church of St Mary of Mount  Berico, a Roman Catholic basilica in Vicenza, northern Italy.

Dominique used a 2014 stamp highlighting Augustus, Founder of the Roman Empire and its first Emperor, ruling from 27 BC until his death in 14 AD.  The stamp marks 2000 years since the death of Augustus.

Last card for today. One more for my Airline Collection. A Cargolux B747.  Cargolux  Airlines International is a cargo airline with its head office at Luxembourg Findel Airport in Sandweiler, Luxembourg.

Meelis used 2 stamps from a set of 4 featuring Antique Autos. They were issued in 2014. The two cars shown are a 1895 De Dion Bouton and a 1904 Peugeot.

That does it for this time. It went way longer than I anticipated. Sometimes when the cards are good, I just want to keep going. Big  thanks for cards go out to Jean Pierre, Mike & Ashley, Bruce, Fati, Jobbo, David, Johan, Ana, Dominique and Meelis. Thank You to all. Hope this update wasn't too long and that you will come back again soon. Take care.
