A Few More Postcards

I do believe it's time for another blog update. If you read to the end of my last update you know where today's card are from or at least about. So let's get to them.
Today's first card arrived from Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A. , at least that's what the cancellation reads. Mike and Ashley's card provides a grand view of Lincoln Financial Field, home stadium of the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL. Completed in 2003, it has a seating capacity of 68,532. The stadium cost $512 million to build and $139.6 million was recouped through naming rights for 21 years. In August of 2003 a soccer match between Manchester United and FC Barcelona was played in " The Linc " as it is known . Music acts to have played here include Bruce Springsteen, U2, Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney.

Again Mike and Ashley used some quite new stamps on their card. On the left is a June 2015 stamp from the Coastal Birds set of 4. These stamps fulfill the Postcard Rate and show digital portraits of coast dwelling birds. The one here is the Red Knot.  The other 2 stamps are from the July 2015 First Class Forever Rate set of 4 called Summer Harvest . They were inspired by the labels found on produce crates during America's early industrial days.

This next card really doesn't need much introduction. Anyone collecting postcards will be familiar with this view or this bridge. It's featured on many cards in some form or another. Stari Most is a reconstruction of a 16th century Ottoman bridge in Mostar crossing the river Neretva. The Old Bridge stood for 427 years , until it was destroyed during the recent war there. The new bridge was opened in July 2004 and interestingly some of the stones from the old bridge were recovered from the river and incorporated into the new bridge. The site around the bridge was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

Jobbo , continuing his vacation sent this card along. He wrote that the post office in Mostar was badly stocked , so there wasn't a lot of choice in stamps. He used 1 of 2 in a 2006 Europa set highlighting Europe Integration .

A catamaran on the beach in Negombo is the subject of this next card. Negombo  is a city in Sri Lanka, located on the west coast of the island, at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon. The area is a tourist and  fishing  area known for sandy beaches.

Ravindra used 2 stamps from the 2014 Solar System souvenir sheet of 10. These 2 show Venus and Mars. I have already received the Moon from this set on an earlier postcard.

Albrecht-Durer-Haus . Located in Nuremberg this was the home of artist Albrecht Durer from 1509 until  his death in 1528 . The house was built around 1420 and since 1871 has been a museum dedicated to Durer's life and work.

.

Ruth , a Postcrosser from Nuremberg sent this card along. She used a 2015 stamp highlighting Ludwigslust Castle, a stately home in Ludwigslust, northern Germany. It was built as a hunting lodge around 1725 by Prince Christian Ludwig.

.

Last card for today. Another Postcrossing one from Germany. A little different view of an aircraft, from under the flight path, but quite nice.

Maria use a Flower definitive along with a commemorative from 2012. It commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the German National Library . The library was founded in Leipzig in 1912.

There you have it - another update completed. Thanks go to Mike & Ashley, Jobbo, Ravindra, Ruth and Maria. Hope you all enjoyed this update , Be sure to join me back here for another, soon. Take care
